I-5 Bridge Collapse

Last night the Skagit Valley was thrust into the national spotlight as we lost a major interstate line of commerce with the collapse of the I-5 bridge. We are so thankful there was no loss of life and minimal injuries as cars went into the Skagit River.

We must focus on spreading the message that we are, and will continue to be, open for business. Our community has come together and is working on the next step in the process. We will keep you in the loop on news, changes and plans.

We are working closely with Mayor Boudreau and our elected officials on traffic mitigation and impacts to the Skagit Valley. There are many detour routes available, WSDOT has set up a page dedicated to alternative routes . Please check often for updates, as routes may change. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Construction/PugetSound/detourmap.htm

The chamber is fielding calls from the media and sharing that Mount Vernon and the Skagit Valley is open for business and ready to greet our many visitors.

Wishing you a good Memorial weekend, please take a moment remember those who sacrificed for our freedom.
